Dancing in the Aisle
Review
Dancing in the Aisle is the type of book to read and then return to time and again to savor. Each short passage represents a child's view of the world and reminds us of the lessons to be learned from children. What I appreciated most about the book is that, while the lessons are relayed through a child's perspective, the authors don't take an overly simplistic approach to their topic. They remind us of the complexity of our lives and acknowledge that self-reflection and communication are necessary if we wish to return to this childlike way of being in the world. --Rebekah Cortez

Review
This is an excellent book with lovely images and thoughtful prose. Brimming with stories from the mouths of children, the book is inspiring and touching, and gently nudges us where we most need it. It would make a wonderful gift.
--Debra Brenegan

Review
In Dancing In The Aisle, Rochelle Melander and Harold Eppley collaborate to show how adults can learn important spiritual lessons by opening themselves to the children around them. By witnessing how children relay messages in unsubtle terms, without fear of potential consequences or care of offense, adults can learn to resist being too conscious of boundaries, rules, and restraints toward acting lovingly. Dancing In The Aisle effectively presents a unique perspective on spontaneous expression of Christian spiritual values through captivating real-life stories about children. Each chapter concludes with meditation that can be used for personal reflection and for family discussion. A scripture passage accompanies each meditation, followed by questions and a "challenge" for readers to further explore how the readings can be applied to their personal spiritual journey. Dancing In The Aisle is ideal for personal inquiry, small group study, and family education in Christian values and expression.

Melander does a fine job presenting an overview of the art of coaching (accepting the past, creating a strong foundation, assessing assets, creating a life vision, and setting goals) and at the same time provides insights into relationship skills, handing change, and dealing with our dreams of a new life. Anyone in a leadership role will find this material to be edifying and inspirational.

Timeouts with God
Review
Timeouts with God is fresh, touching and thought-provoking. Rather than rely on stereotypical examples, this clergy couple tell some real life stories about the not-so-glamorous, not so stellar, moments as that can make parents discouraged. Their honesty and insights allow a stressed or busy parent to really put the Lord back into the small things of the daily life of the family. Their story about their son's baptism moved me to tears. Many days I found myself thinking about the point they had made in that morning's devotion. Often I found myself reading the same devotion for several days running because I so enjoyed their message. They know how hard parenting and working and maintaining relationships can be, and you cannot fail to benefit from their words and spiritual insights.
